Come build hope with us!
The University Church of Christ partners with Amor Ministries, a non-profit organization based out of San Diego. During the first weekend of Pepperdine spring break (Feb 28- March 2) we will help build 2 houses in Baja Mexico! Amor has been around for 32 years and has built over 16,000 homes. The University Church is excited to sponsor this trip where high school kids, families and college students can all serve together. The price for each person to go is $400+ HOWEVER, because of the generosity of the Church, the cost each person will pay is $150 which includes transportation, food, insurance, tents and materials for the construction.
We will be leaving on Saturday morning, February 28 at 5:30am, from Rho Parking Lot. We will caravan down to San Diego where we will meet up with a representative from Amor, who will help us cross the border and set up camp. We will begin working on the house as soon as possible and finish everyday by sundown.
We will be camping! We will be in 2-6 person tents, separated guys and girls. Part of the experience is no running water (although there is a “bucket shower” area) and no electricity. We will eat dinner together (Amor provides amazing meals for us!) and have worship time before quiet hours at 10pm. It will be in the low 40s at night, so bright warm clothes and sleeping things!
On Monday, we will clean up and head back to the border before sundown. We will arrive back at Pepperdine between 8-10pm, depending on traffic.
